Mary T. Enslow

Based in Seattle and originally from the Pacific Northwest, I am a ceramic sculptor exploring themes of strength, vulnerability, and human connection through the female form. My work is rooted in traditional hand-building techniques and guided by an intuitive connection to nature, identity, and transformation.

I earned my BFA in Sculpture from the University of Washington in 2003, with part of my studies completed in Rome. Influenced early on by the surrealist work of Alberto Giacometti, I was drawn to raw, expressive forms that transcend realism. Traveling and studying in Europe deepened my interest in classical sculpture and its quiet, ongoing conversation with ruins and the natural world.

After beginning in metal casting, I transitioned to clay in 2009, drawn to its immediacy and expressive depth. In addition to my studio practice, I’ve co-founded three creative ventures: the Twilight Artist Collective (2005–2012), the Georgetown Trailer Park Mall (est. 2010), and Pugmill Society (est. 2015), a ceramic collective at Equinox Studios. Through these spaces, I’ve helped build accessible, community-centered platforms for artists to thrive.

Art remains both my rebellion and my redemption—a lifelong process of shaping and becoming.
