Chloe and Colin | The Why?

The Why? is a multidisciplinary studio space with an emphasis on community that is managed by Chloe and Colin. You can find it in Big Blue in studio space 110.

Chloe is a fashion designer who sells clothing through her brand So Fun, where she focuses on creating fun unique designs for people of all shapes and sizes. Chloe is a big proponent of slow fashion and makes everything by hand through upcycling old clothing, repurposing fabric, screen printing, fabric painting, and/or sewing. Chloe loves meeting new people and helping others try new things when it comes to expressing themselves through clothing. (Visit sofun.dog.)

Colin is a multi-instrumentalist who performs, records, and teaches music in a variety of ways. With a background in classical music, Colin goes against the grain of his traditional education in order to promote creativity and personality of the musicians he works with. Colin also writes and records music of his own under the moniker ‘Colin Reid’ and plans to release his first full length album in the coming months. In the meantime, Colin teaches flute, piano, and guitar at his shared studio space. Colin is always open to meeting new people, learning new music, and helping musicians find their sound in the studio.

Collectively, Chloe and Colin also use their studio to create a space to empower and feature other artists they have met along the way. They do this through providing two recurring free events in their space. The first is their weekly Open Studio where they open their studio up to the public as a free co-working space, giving anyone with a creative idea a chance to pursue their vision alongside friends and other creatives. The other event they offer is their monthly Studio Showcase, held during the Georgetown Art-Attack. The showcase is a curated variety show that gives visual and performing artists a chance to show their stuff in front of a small crowd. Typically their stage is decorated with a plethora of art from various mediums that serves as the backdrop of various performances, including music, comedy, storytelling, and poetry.
