There's nothing practical about art
We are an artist duo working to bring our most ridiculous ideas to life.
Vilèm's passion for photography started as an avenue of self-expression and communication. Born in Moravia, Czechoslovakia, he came to the United States at the age of eighteen, unable to speak the language, but eager to communicate. As the Greek word, "photograph" suggests, ("photo", defined as "light" and "graphic" meaning "to draw,") Vilèm consciously reinvents, supplements, counteracts, and alter dimensions, by capturing his delight in the everyday. By juxtaposing unlikely elements and images, he can tell a story in his own artistic way, striving to create montages that inspire and leave viewers desiring more.
Kristina's work focuses on the seemingly innocuous objects that populate daily life. Though these subjects are commonplace they are iconic by means of their ubiquity. As regular actors in human life, they are never free of meaning and serve as unconscious signifiers of culture, politics and personal identity. Using wry humor, she brings together objects and ideas that through proximity reimagine those meanings and give new significance to their societal underpinnings.
