aesthetic emotion

Making portrays a conversation between my past, present, and future. I am drawn to themes of transformation, elicited from personal narratives and reflection. It is an attempt to make sense of abject experiences, edged with the sublime. My methods involve working in series, using processes and symbolic imagery influenced by each subject to convey emotive intent. Previous studies in the life sciences inspire the use of organic forms and textures. This juxtaposes science fiction intrigue, alongside synthetic and metal sounds of musical influences, portrayed with a bio-mechanical format. The contrast of elements creates uncanny cohesion, as it portrays sublime duality within the concepts.

Examples of work are published in "1000 Rings", "The Art of Enameling", "500 Wedding Rings", "Humor in Craft", and most recently "Narrative Jewelry: Tales from the Toolbox." Included in the collections of Tiffany & Co. artist David Freda, The Enamel Arts Foundation in Los Angeles, CA, and Rancho Obi-Wan in Petaluma, CA.
